ONG-ISAC and 1898 & Co. Webinar

Abstract:

Maritime operations and transportation are fundamental components of oil and natural gas products lifecycles. Like everything else nowadays, maritime operations are increasingly digitally connected and automated. One component of this is the use of Automatic Identification System (AIS), which was created to aid in the safe navigation of vessels and to prevent accidents and collisions. Today many vessels have AIS data integrated into automated collision avoidance systems. In this session we will discuss the dangers and impact from an overreliance on AIS for collision avoidance from a cybersecurity perspective, especially when considering trends towards increasingly autonomous / semi-autonomous vessels.
