“Drilling Down into the Murky World of ICS Hacking”

Presenter: Tim Luck, Consultant at Pen Test Partners

Presentation Abstract:

With real world vulnerabilities, we will show how cyber-attacks can be carried out against ICS hardware and infrastructure. We’ll look at how a mobile drilling platform could be compromised, to the ease with which satellite communications can be employed to cause disruption and failure, to the way in which passwords can be retrieved from Programmable Logic Controllers. While we can’t always see where the next attack will come from, we can at least learn from security research and see how it applies to control systems to avoid disruption and reduce risk.

About the Speaker:

Tim has nearly 10 years’ information/cyber security experience, founded on penetration testing and general GRC (governance, risk and compliance) consultancy. As well as working closely with large financial institutions and retailers (amongst others) to deliver security services, including Red Teaming, Tim is strongly active within the IoT, Maritime and Aviation sectors.

Based in New York, Tim is a regular at many conferences and events in the industry, including co-hosting round table user groups and presenting on various topics. Most recently Tim has presented to the Global Connected Aircraft Summit, ISSA chapters, API Oil & Gas conference, and the US Chamber of Commerce as well general cyber panels/discussions.
